TOP was engaged by a Houston, Texas-based large cap independent oil and gas exploration and production company to estimate the fair value of a long-term natural gas supply contract. The services were provided in relation to certain financial reporting requirements, given the supply contract's recognition as a derivative for accounting purposes. In addition to an initial comprehensive analysis and valuation opinion deliverable, consultative mark-to-market analyses assistance was also provided relating to three additional measurement dates. The discounted cash-flow method of the income approach was used to estimate the value of the contract.
