Valuation Opinion Review Services Provided to a Top 10 U.S. Audit Firm

TOP was engaged by the U.S. audit and assurance firm of an international advisory, tax, and assurance organization to review the integrity of a valuation opinion regarding certain oil and gas royalty interests provided to one of its clients for financial reporting purposes. The valuation opinion was performed by an independent consulting firm (the "Preparer") and pertained to certain unconventional proved, developed, producing ("PDP") crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids reserve interests relating to assets in the Marcellus shale of the Appalachian basin. The scope of our review procedures included the Preparer's selected methodology, commodity pricing assumptions, risking (e.g., unrisked discount rate, reserve adjustment factors, and risk-adjusted discount rates), and analysis' mathematical integrity. Multiple estimate dates were included as part of the services.
